Meet the Team

Andy Spragg

Meditation and Tai Chi

What you do. – Here at the Sangha House, I teach Tai Chi, Buddhist Meditation and Buddhist teaching. I also have been known to make the tea and take the bins out.

Why you love it – As one of the directors of the Sangha House it is a privilege to welcome our customers in to the house. Because they quickly become friends. It is so wonderful to have so many friends around us now. I truly feel I have never had that at any other time in my life. The Sangha House is a wonderful place to work.

Superpower – Yes, easy one this. My uncanny ability to acquire, collect and hoard, large amounts of techie “stuff”. Especially cables and chargers.

Denise Spragg

Manicure, Pedicure, Footcare and more

My name is Denise Spragg, and I’m the other co-owner of the House together with Andy. I head up the holistic therapy team here, and I have a varied skill set, performing reflexology, facials, body polishing, massage, manicure and pedicure.

My absolute favourite treatment is footcare, though – the more complex the feet, the better. I am one of only four people in the UK to practise the form of pedicure that I do which combines cosmetic pedicure with podiatry, so I can help you if you have ingrown or impacted nails, fungal nails or if you are diabetic.

My superpower? Well, I truly am details woman, so you’ll find me straightening pictures and making sure towels are folded properly. You may not notice, but it’s those little things that lead to harmonious surroundings, and that feeling of “ahh” when you come in. Obsessive, me? Well, it’s the cross we superheroes have to bear!

Gina Ann

Pilates and Physical Fitness

I love Helping people to find good posture in everyday to day living especially if you work on a computer desk all day.

Your “superpower” – To be particular on Pilates exercises and make sure everyone understands what muscle group they are working on.

Other super power- Being happy! 🙂

Lena Mauhan

Yoga

What I do – “I teach yoga at the Sangha House. Gentle yet challenging. We have a bit of fun to lift the mood of the week ahead. Yoga Nidra  is an opportunity to forget about everything for an hour and simply relax.”

My superpower – “My superpower is my voice or so I’ve been told.”

Morgan Hudson

Holistic Therapist

Offering fully body massage, remedial massage, hot stone massage, aromatherapy and reiki.

“My introduction into holistic therapy started at 18 when I trained as a Reiki master healer.  This is still one of my favourite modalities, as it is a very gentle healing system, suitable for everyone and it can be preformed with hands on or off the body.  It has it’s origins in 1920s Japan, where it was discovered by Usui Sensei whose students carried it to the rest of the world.   I tend to work very intuitively with Reiki, trusting in the energy to do the work.   I love the lineage and history of Reiki, with every Usui Reiki healer being connected through unbroken lineage to Usui Sensei himself.

My main treatment is massage.  I’m a VTCT qualified level 3 massage therapist of 20 years experience.   It’s a treatment I have invested a lot of time and education in, to the point where I another full diploma (1 year of study) in recent years.  I’m privileged to have trained with therapists from all over the world and I’m always looking to refresh my skills.   My massage is a combination of deep tissue and Swedish style with elements taken from Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and Balinese massage, reflexology and Indian Head Massage.

These are my two favourites, and I love them both,  and what’s not to love when you get to do work which makes you relax?!

What’s my superpower?  Well they don’t call me ‘Magic Morgan’ for nothing 😉  Erm well I guess I probably shouldn’t mention my skills as a Jedi Knight so I’ll pick another.  I can paint, I don’t make the time for it often, but I can and I’m reasonably talented. “

Barre

I teach the Barre classes at The Sangha House, though I have taught Vinyasa Yoga at the House a few years ago and you may find me covering anything from Yoga to Fitness. My Barre classes are friendly and open to all levels, we use small repetitive movements to improve strength and flexibility. One thing I can guarantee with Barre is that everyone always leaves with a smile!

My superpower is that I always look for the bright side, and that means I’m often found with a smile on my face! Some of my students and friends might wish my superpower was my humour, it definitely isn’t, but I’ll still crack a few jokes during class because we don’t take ourselves too seriously in my sessions!

Nicola Walter

Somatics and Yoga

I have been studying, practising and teaching yoga for the past thirty years, and found myself fortunate enough to spend the lockdown years reading extensively, and deepening my knowledge even further. In particular, I find it fascinating that the ancient yogic texts often refer to the special powers one can attain from a dedicated and devoted yoga practice. Who doesn’t marvel at this very idea, lol?

However, as a humble modern yoga teacher this is not something I feel I can ever claim to accomplish.  Yet, whilst we are all mere mortals and not the mythological deities we love to create in meeting our shortcomings, I have grown to appreciate just how yoga can provide us with the much needed capacity for self-awareness and self-compassion, and this in itself is special. So, for this very reason, I feel extremely honoured to be able to teach and write about yoga.

And whilst I don’t teach aerial yoga, I find that with a little bit of support in the grounding principles of hatha yoga, yoga nidra, mindful meditation, and somatic coaching, we can learn to carefully spread our wings, feel a little lighter in ourselves, and be better connected.

My superpower – I avoided answering that question in that I don’t believe we mere mortals have super powers, so perhaps therefore my super power is my modesty/ meekness/ humble nature.  My husband would say it’s my infectious laugh, so I’ll leave you to decide!

I very much look forward to teaching you at Sangha House. Namaste

Sam Arscott

Pilates

I teach Pilates and dynamic movement. I also always have a story to tell, so you can be sure there will be some laughter. I help people move better, feel stronger and better in themselves. I also educate about the body and how you can take the movement of Pilates into your everyday life. I have a strong desire to help people, and aim for everyone to walk out of my class feeling better in themselves in some way. My style has been described as flowing and unique, with no two classes being the same.

Hidden superpower:

Boundless energy from 10am – 10pm 🤣 (I’m not a morning person)

Sean Toland

Yoga

I teach a weekly guided Ashtanga Yoga class. Originating in Mysore, South India, this traditional practice is a dynamic, set sequence of postures that are synchronised through breath and movement, called vinyasa.

Another key component of the practice is Tristhana. This means three places of attention; breath, posture and gazing point. Whilst improving our physical strength and flexibility, these tools also help lead us towards a calm and focused mind that we can carry over into our daily lives.

I love this practice as it has given me a sense of embodiment. I feel grounded and calm. It’s allowed me to open up to life. It’s also taught me patience, courage, strength, discipline and devotion. I’m privileged to have the opportunity to share it with you.

If I have a super power then it’s being a master procrastinator. Most of my friends would tell you I’m the most laid back person you’ll meet. It’s been useful in stressful times that’s for sure!

Hopefully see you at the Sangha House soon!

Charlotte Biro

Holistic Therapist

Massage was always present in my life. My grandmother gave us her grandchildren lovely massages when we had headaches or stiff, sore backs after a tiring schoolday. I’ve learnt the first techniques from her instinctively. It took me several years though to decide to qualify.

After qualifying in Level 3 Swedish massage in 2018 I’ve started to work properly.

My main goal is to offer relaxation and prevent more serious body injuries or health conditions like strained muscles, fatigue, headache, nerve damage etc.

In the meantime I also qualified in manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) which is a very gentle treatment suitable for those who are not allowed to have Swedish/relaxing massage for some (usually medical) reason and helps to relieve lymphedema. I’ve also studied Shiatsu massage and Amma chair massage. I find them both fantastic and completely different compared to the usual western style body treatments.

I’ve studied in many parts of Europe and my studies are still not over as the more I learn the more I realise how many different types of body treatments exist.
