Djembe at The Sangha House – Next Event 11th August 2018
Come to a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Djembe drumming at The Sangha House. No experience necessary. Just come and find your rhythm!
Marion, our drum teacher has a unique ability to bring out everyone’s rhythm. Working together we start with simply rhythms and work our way up to complex fusions on 3 or 4 rhythms all joining together. It is so satisfying to make music and this is accessible to everyone.
The Djembe is a rope-tuned skin-covered goblet drum played with bare hands, originally from West Africa. According to the Bambara people in Mali, the name of the djembe comes from the saying “Anke djé, anke bé” which translates to “everyone gather together in peace” and defines the drum’s purpose.
So come along and lets have a drumming party!
